Christopher Ng has over 20 years of experience as an education and arts and culture executive, specialising in strategy, fundraising, business development and partnerships across East Asia, UK, Europe and North America. He is seasoned in developing and funding training programmes, educational outreach, community engagement, and youth projects. Chris also manages strong networks with government departments, Consulate Generals, school and institutional heads, corporate and public sector partners, family offices, trusts and foundations, and funders. Over the years, he has worked with over 1000 schools, numerous NGO’s, corporates and service providers, recruited, trained and worked with uncountable numbers of teachers and staff, and has delivered large-scale, impactful projects for the government, public and private sectors locally and regionally.
In his most recent role as Assistant Director for External Affairs at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Chris led the Academy's international, development and alumni affairs, student recruitment and community engagement, and communications offices. Chris developed the Academy’s internationalisation strategy and was also instrumental to the Academy’s upcoming 10-year Strategic Plan, leading on their new Greater Bay Area, nurturing talent and international recruitment initiatives. Moreover, he was responsible for partnerships, fundraising, developing, and implementing various Academy-level events and activities.
During his time at the British Council, Chris worked with various private donors, trusts and foundations, corporate social responsibility/sponsors and government funds to support a wide range of language, digital literacy, soft skills and social impact programmes he developed across the East Asia region. In addition, Chris has worked closely with UK alumni networks and UK/Hong Kong universities to engage local students and communities and develop international platforms for collaboration. He was a key member of the team that launched the Council's inaugural SPARK Festival in 2019 that attracted over 14,000 visitors over a weekend, and brought together 200 UK and Hong Kong artists, scientists and academics from over 50 organisations.
In his previous role as Executive Director for the International Academy of Film and Television (a post-secondary filmmaking/acting vocational school), Chris setup and operated campuses in Hong Kong and Belgium, and developed a franchise school model for the Nigeria and China markets. Prior to that, he managed operations of his own learning centres across Hong Kong, while also running English/ESL programmes at the local primary and secondary schools.
Chris is the Co-Chair of the Education Committee for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong and frequently works with Canadian university alumni groups and with Canadian business sponsors/donors. Additionally, he has been a mentor for Wofoo Social Enterprises for over five years, supporting cohorts of startups and social enterprises by scaling their business models and guiding them on how to pitch to investors and funders.
Born in the UK, and raised in Canada, Chris attended the University of British Columbia.
